Marianivka, Volyn Oblast

Mar'yanivka ((ウクライナ語:''Мар'янівка''); (ポーランド語:Marianówka); (リトアニア語:Marianivka))
is an urban-type settlement in Horokhiv Raion, Volyn Oblast (province) of western Ukraine. Mar'yanivka is located on the Hnyla Lypa River. Population: .
Mar'yanivka was founded at the beginning of the 18th century, from Polish immigrants. Then the settlement was named Musin. But these lands have been inhabited much earlier. This is evidenced by archaeological finds. Specifically, in 1928 on the outskirts Mar'yanivka, near the village Borochychi during a mound of the future rail Lviv - Lutsk at a depth of 1m was found a huge treasure of silver and gold Roman coins in the number of 1500 copies. However, this figure is probably understated, because, according to eyewitnesses, the total weight of the treasure was over 50 kg. Hamlet Musin was named until 1921, and in 1921 the Polish authorities renamed colony Musin to village Mar'yanivka. The status of urban settlement (town) received in 1958. From 1940 till 1962 was the center Mar'yanivka, Mar'yanivs'ka district, Volyn Oblast (province).
The town has four churches Orthodox, Pentecostal, Catholic and Jehovah's Witnesses, three more under construction. Nearby located mountains "Katerynski mountains" as a fortress with one entrance. These hills were made late 17th - early 18th century as a protective structure. Their height around 15–20 meters. There is a legend according to which the soldiers to build these "mountains" were carrying ground in their hats. On the Independence St. is a monument to heroes of World War II. In 1928 on the outskirts Mar'yanivka when creating a mound of the future rail Lviv - Lutsk found a great treasure of silver and gold Roman coins in large quantities. The exact number of coins could not be determined even then, because they hastily dismantled navvies. Although much of the jewelry sold on the hands, the authorities managed to deprive the navvies about 9 kg of coins. The structure served as a treasure of gold medallion of the emperor Claudius Yoviana (363-364 pp. BC). Renowned scholar of antiquities Volyn archaeologist Alexander Tsynkalovskyy in his book "Materials on the prehistory and Volyn Volyn Polesie" analyzed in detail of the treasure, weighing 4 kg, in the sum of 362 silver coins. Among them were denarius Vespasian (69-79 pp. BC. AD), Trajan (98-117 pp. BC. AD), Hadrian (117-138 pp. BC. BC), Antonin Pius (138-161 pp . BC. BC), Lucius Vera (161-169 pp. Mr.. BC), Marcus Aurelius (161-180 pp. Mr.. BC), Commodus (180-192 pp. Mr.. AD), Septimius Severus (193-211 pp. BC. AD) and others. It is believed that "Mar'yanivkskyy treasure" was hidden in the ground in 4th-5th century to the beginning of a new era.
